*Insert Derp Face here*

Why hello there, and welcome to my very first blog post for this blog. I'm Zane, the owner of this blog, and a member of Team Tableflip, a Singapore-based MTG playgroup that specialises in the Modern format. The other members of the team are helping me with this blog because I'm still relatively new to both MTG and its competitive scene. Today, I'm going to be talking about how and why I got into Magic: The Gathering.

I have been playing several TCGs prior to Magic, such as Yugioh, Weiss Schwartz, Duel Masters and even Vanguard. While those games were fun, I found it boring at the same time. I realised that in those games, luck is the main factor in deciding who wins the game, instead of skill. I'll admit that Yugioh does require skill but luck is still a major deciding factor. Heck, in the last format for Yugioh, games were decided as early as the first turn when players lost their entire hand of 5 cards to a combo, and where's the fun in that?

I started playing with Constantine and Ryan in school, while they taught me to play the game. I learnt this game to play competitively because I realised that it was the exact opposite of Yugioh. You (probably) can't decide who wins the game on the very first turn based on what you draw. No, this was a card game that required skill.

And now to end this long post.

Peace out,
Zane
